Grain shipments grew 28 % compared to August , cotton prices increased by 76 %

The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of U.S. $ 2.147 billion in September . Shipments agribusiness kept the good performance in the period . Products such as soybeans , corn and coffee were up . The highlight was the cotton . Shipments of the plume grew 76 % . The volume of orange juice dropped by 25 % compared to the month of August .
Sales of soybeans abroad had the best September in history , according to data released by the Secretary of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade ( MDIC ) , Daniel Godinho , on Tuesday ( 1/10) . Product exports totaled U.S. $ 1.9 billion in the period , a figure 83 % higher than in September 2012 . The good performance was driven mainly by purchases from China .

soybean
Exports of soybeans totaled € 3,849 million tons, 106 % higher than shipped in September last year and 35.5 % below the export in August this year . Revenue from external sales totaled U.S. $ 1.851 billion, 83 % higher than in September last year and 36 % lower than in August this year.
The export of soybean reached 1.308 million tons, 23.87 % increase over the same month last year and 12.4 % higher than in August this year. Revenue from external sales of soybean meal was U.S. $ 727 million, 19.8 % higher than in September last year and 17.9 % over August of this year . In the year between January and September , exports fell 9.4% in volume ( to 10.07 million tons ) , while revenue increased 3.6 % (to $ 4.9 billion ) .
Exports of soybean oil in September posted the best performance since August last year , with shipments of 177,500 tons . The volume was 60 % higher than exports in September last year and 91 % higher than embedded in August this year . Revenue in September reached U.S. $ 160.3 million, 24 % higher than in September last year and 79 % higher than in August. In the year the volume dropped by 35 % ( to 893,000 tons ) and 43.3 % in revenue (to $ 908 million ) .
corn
Exports follow advancing , but the reduction of commodity prices in the international market impacts the performance of foreign exchange earnings . The volume shipped in September reached 3.449 million tons , up 13.11% from 3.049 million tons exported in August . Compared to September 2012 , when they were sold abroad 3.049 million tonnes , the volume was 9.66 % higher . For the full year , shipments totaled 15.75 million tons , up 67 % from 9.406 million tonnes recorded from January to September 2012.
Already revenue of $ 772.8 million is 8.71 % lower than in September 2012 , when sales totaled $ 846.6 million . Compared to August of this year ( U.S. $ 707.1 million ) for growth of 9.29 % . Last month, the average price per ton of corn exported was U.S. $ 224 , 16.72 % less than the U.S. $ 269.2 / t in September 2012. The recovery of U.S. production after a year of sharp decline weighs on prices of cereal.
cotton
Cotton exports totaled 81,300 tons in September , an increase of 75.97 % compared with the previous month , when 46,200 tons were shipped . However , compared to September 2012, when they had been exported 149,400 tons , the reduction is 45.58 % . For the year , exports totaled 375,400 tonnes, 40.5 % lower than the 631,700 tons shipped in the first nine months of 2012 .
The 2012/2013 crop of cotton in the country is expected to add 1,290 million tons in the season, 31.8 % lower than last season , according to Conab , which limits the volume available for export .
In revenue , exports totaled U.S. $ 158.8 million in September , up 78.89 % from $ 88.6 million in August, but 49.4 % below the $ 313.3 million billed in 2012 . The average price per tonne was U.S. $ 1,949 , 1.72 % above U.S. $ 1,916 per ton in August and 7.05% below the U.S. $ 2,097 per ton in September last year .
coffee
Brazilian exports of coffee last September (21 days ) reached 2,460 million bags of 60 kg , representing an increase of 24.99 % over the same month last year ( 1.969 million bags) . In terms of foreign exchange earnings fell by 13.10% YoY to U.S. $ 357.6 million , compared with $ 411.5 million in September 2012 .
When compared with the previous month , the export of coffee in September shows an increase of 2.58 % in terms of volume , since last August the country shipped 2.399 million bags. The exchange revenue was 0.11 % lower , whereas sales of $ 358 million in August .
Orange juice
The export of orange juice fell in September , with shipments of 139,000 tons, 25 % less than the 186,000 tons sold in August . Compared to the same period in 2012 , when 202,200 tons were shipped , the decrease was 31.2 % .
In revenue , exports totaled U.S. $ 153.9 million, 18.35% less than the amount billed with August sales ( U.S. $ 188.5 million ) . Compared to September 2012 , the decrease was 30.73 % . That month , the export revenue reached $ 222.2 million .
The average price was U.S. $ 1,107 a tonne , 9.27 % above U.S. $ 1,013 per tonne recorded last August . Prices also remained stable compared to September 2012, when the commodity was exported to U.S. $ 1,099 per ton .
