( For President of Mercedes - Benz cars are not the " great evils " of global warming , but the cows )

The president of Mercedes - Benz , Philipp Scheimer said on Tuesday ( 19/11 ) that despite the car being touted as the ' villain ' of global warming , the industry has its share of responsibility, but not the only that harms the environment . " ( The gas emissions ) cows are responsible for 18 % of global warming , while the transport sector accounts for 13.5 % ," he said during a lecture at the Sustainability Forum , sponsored by Exame magazine in Sao Paulo .

In jest, Scheimer said that if the world was vegetarian there would be so much pollution . "You have to relativize the facts , but we are aware that we have to act," he said.

According to the president of Mercedes , the company has studied and put into practice a number of solutions to contribute to the future of the planet . " Today we do not think only the product itself , we think of transportation solutions individually and collectively, we think of mobility solutions . "

No mention by name the mayor of São Paulo , Fernando Haddad , Scheimer was critical to the implementation of the bus lane , one of the most recent actions of the mayor to try to solve the traffic in the city . " We have always argued the subway as the best solution , but the BRT (Bus Rapid Transport ) is an efficient alternative . And it's not necessary to paint an exclusive track on the streets to make it work ," he said, referring to the model of collective transport, is already in operation in the country in Belo Horizonte .
