Roses are the flowers most sold in the world and account for 50 % of the international market for cut flowers . For this reason the producers involved in its production are always looking for news. This is the case of Hadrian Rooyen , producer for 20 years in Holambra ( SP ) that launches every year one or two new types of pink in Brazil . This year he opted for blueberry , a variation of red , which is the most traded in the global market .
The pink blueberry was developed by company NIRP , of Italian origin . Each year the company provides growers Brazilians between 15 and 20 news. Daniel was so enchanted with the beauty of the flower, as with the productive characteristics of the species , which produces two stems per plant per month , while the average stands at 1 rod and a half . " The color is unique . There is no other rose like this in the market , "says Rooyen .
The new rose is being released this month in Brazil during Expoflora , flower show happens in Holambra ( SP ) . " The designers believe it could be an innovative option in marriages that occur during the summer time period in which the day is longer , once for being dark does not stand out much at night ," he says .
The producer has planted 40,000 plants of the new variety . " It is difficult to make the decision to invest in new because we never know how the market will react," says Rooyen , who grows 15 varieties . Among the seedling planting and harvesting roses are spending six months and the option for blueberry also proved to be correct from the point of view of resistance to disease. "We do a little spraying ," he says.
Other factors which give the blueberry features a " perfect pink " are the amount of petals - about 45 , while the average is 30 - long stem , always most sought after by decorators and landscapers , good durability and perfume , " which is important in Brazil because Brazilians often pick the flowers with the nose , "says Mauricio Torres , breeder of roses .
