Production value can reach $ 440bn in 2014

Preliminary data were released by the Ministry of Agriculture

Preliminary studies indicate that in 2014 the value of production of crops and livestock ( VBPA ) can add U.S. $ 440.56 billion . The expectation was released on Thursday ( 14/11 ) by the Ministry of Agriculture ( MAPA).

For 2013 , the expectation is that this value is $ 419.76 billion , which is 9.6 % more than 2012. Most products tested this year has production value higher than last year .

" Importantly, the value for next year is based on information still preliminary , representing only a starting point for tracking information by 2014 ," said the coordinator of Strategic Planning of the Ministry , José Garcia Gasques in a statement.

The estimated total for 2013 , U.S. $ 278.72 billion refer to crops and R $ 141 billion livestock. The growth rates were 9.2% and 10.5 % , respectively, compared to the previous year .

According to the Ministry of Agriculture , the major highlights among the agricultural products are tomatoes , up 88.2 % ; potatoes , 46.9 % ; orange, 33 %, soybeans 21.1 %, wheat 16 , 7 % ; smoking, 14.4 %, and banana, 11.3% . Rice, sugar cane , beans , cassava and maize also show favorable performance , but with lower percentages than before.

In livestock , poultry meat leads the ranking of real increase in output value . There may be an increase of 23 % compared to 2012. Eggs and swine then comes with 13.2% and 12.3 % increase , respectively. The worst performance was observed in cattle and milk .
