Evolutionary Biology

A biologia evolutiva também questiona-se sobre qual é a origem do homem.
Evolutionary biology also raises questions about what is the origin of man.

The theory of evolution seeks answers about the emergence of species (speciation) on our planet over time. The similarities between them and these adaptations to their environment, are some of the arguments in favor of the theory. Fossil records and molecular evidence also provide evidence about this biological process.

Darwin - the first name that comes to mind when talking about evolution - is one of several scholars who have thought about these mechanisms. Linnaeus, Lamarck and Wallace (co-author of the theory of evolution by natural selection, also proposed by Darwin), are a few names that have contributed greatly to the understanding of this science.

More recently, August Weissmann, De Vries, Fisher, Haldane, Mayr, Simpson, Stebbins, Romanes, Ruxley, among others, were able to explain gaps in the ideas of Darwin and Wallace, by means of the synthetic theory of evolution, or neo-Darwinism: currently accepted model.

For such, the laws of Mendel, later broadcasted contributed much since Darwin died without finding a model of descent / heredity consistent and compatible with his theory. A curiosity about this is that Darwin had in his library publications the "Father of Genetics", without, however, having had the opportunity to understand it - or even read them.

Many scientists believe today that all areas of biology (genetics, ecology, biochemistry, physiology, embryology, paleontology, among others) will only be consistent if they are contextualized in an evolutionary approach.

In this regard, the Russian geneticist Theodosius Dobzhansky (1900 - 1975) pointed out:

"Nothing in biology makes sense except in light of evolution."
