Biogeochemical Cycles

(The cycling of matter)

Biogeochemical cycles represent the natural movement of chemical elements in the ecosystem among the living (biotic) and the environment (abiotic component).

With the death of an organism, the organic matter that composes it is degraded by decomposers and their agents chemicals returned to the environment, being reused by other living organism.

The fact that the planet Earth is a dynamic system, responding to the assumption Lavoisier (in nature nothing is lost, everything is transformed), the movement and storage of raw affects all physical, chemical and biological, allowing the cycling of macro and micro nutrients.

Among the major cycles are: the atom of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, oxygen, hydrogen and water molecule.
