The fuel is characterized as any substance which, when reacting with oxygen to produce heat, gases or flames. The energy released during this process is of fundamental importance to human activities, and especially for industrial production, since most of the machines runs out of energy fuel.
Various substances can be used to make fuel, the fossil being the most popular (oil, coal and natural gas). However, the need to develop alternatives that can replace gradually the fossil fuels, impelled research for obtaining biofuel.
The cane sugar, agricultural residues, palm oil, oilseeds and forest biomass are the main raw materials in the production of biofuel, which is one of the least harmful to the environment, since the emission of greenhouse gases is almost nil.
