After being healed of a screwworm navel, my calf two months had an inflammation in the joints of the front and back paws, preventing it from standing for a long time. Problem arising from the navel, a bacterium here was diagnosed as the cause of the inflammation, and some diagnoses listed for combat, but with little expectation of healing and great chances of sacrificing the animal. Is there any other advice more hopeful?

If bacteria enter the navel, that the newborn animal is connected directly to the liver, it will have direct access to all the organs of the body. Therefore, in addition to inexpensive prevention is recommended for twice daily with tincture of iodine from 5% to 10% by dry the navel, which must be cut if it is larger than 5 centimeters. Attention to the classic signs of the invasion of bacteria, which include swollen joints, fever, weakness and lack of appetite. Treatment should be seven days with broad-spectrum antibiotic and anti-inflammatory intramuscular. The faster start care more chances there to get positive results. Clean the navel inflamed removing the maggots in it and apply a bit of iodine to 1%.
