There is a need to make the correct identification of the cause of the problem that is occurring in the palm, to indicate the most appropriate solution. However, a pest that attacks of palms is cochineal scale. The control is most effective when performed at the beginning of infestation.

It is recommended to apply in 400 milliliters of plant oil, mineral oil or neen 2%, using a spray gun. Repeat application after seven days. For the attack to be at an advanced stage, the most appropriate is to make a pruning and expect to issue new palm bud. If cochineal appears again, please control within the first indications of the return of the plague. There is also the possibility of a disease caused by fungus, which can only be controlled through preventive action. However, there is no trade fungicide registered at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).
