Three months ago, a disease that blackens leaves and fruits, causing their fall, has advanced in the orchards of my uncle in rural Linhares (ES). Started by orange and then spread to the cacao and guava, to infect the coffee plantation. I ask for help on how to do to stop the attack.

What usually gets blackened leaves and fruits, but without dropping them in the case of the orange trees, is the presence of the sooty mold fungus. It occurs due to some sucking insect attack, such as aphids and cochineal, among others, that expel excess sap sucked on the surface of the leaf or the fruit. The sweet substance becomes an excellent substrate for the growth of the fungus. Control should be done to eliminate the insect origin of sooty mold, whose presence in the plant tends to disappear carried by wind or rain. Associated with mineral oil diluted in water is recommended to apply insecticide doses set by the manufacturer. The defense, however, is only sold with the presentation of a prescription agronomy.
