Demand for industrial products grows in Brazil

Increased income of Brazilians stimulates consumption items such as mozzarella , yogurt , olive oil , meats and drinks

A study prepared by the Office of Strategic Management at the Ministry of Agriculture shows that the 8.6% increase in income of Brazilians in the last five years has boosted the consumption of foods with higher added value , such as meat and dairy products , and beverages , as beer and wine.

The Coordinator of Strategic Planning of the Ministry of Agriculture , José Garcia Gasques , believes that the trend is that increasing consumption will continue over the next decade . According to statistics from the Ipeadata per capita income of Brazilians grew at an annual rate of 1.72 % in the last five years , from $ 10,690 in 2008 to $ 11,610 in 2012 .

José Gasques notes that commodities of the Brazilian table , like rice and beans, should consumption growth associated with increased vegetative population . " This demand has grown by about 1 % per year , slightly below the population growth of the country , however, other products with higher added value will be further pursued in the market due to the higher purchasing power of Brazilians ," he explains .

The product had the greatest increase in consumption by the Brazilian population was the mozzarella cheese , with a growth of 3.77 % per annum . Other manufactured products that were gained market chicken meat ( 1.87 % per year) ; beef ( 2.77 % annually ) , cow milk ( 2.29 % annually ) , yogurt ( 2.97 % per year) and oil ( 3.06 % annually ) . Among the drinks stand beer ( 3.85% per year) , wine ( 3.2% per year) and rum ( 2.11 % annually ) .
