A battery with infinite energy is the latest discovery of the Israeli company Sol Chip , based in Haifa . Cleantech technology eliminates the need for large areas of solar panels and provides perpetual energy for sensors and mobile electronic devices from a miniature. Operable in sunlight and in dim light, the product is the result of the intersection of solar cells and microchips .

Although solar cells have been around for quite some time and microchips are the basis of electronic devices , Sol Chip informs that there is no known company in the semiconductor industry that has successfully integrated the two technologies in a profitable way .

" We offer the technology gap and that will improve the battery life , or in many cases eliminate the need for a battery as a power source for low power applications ," says Shani Keysar , CEO and founder of Sun Chip . " The idea is that the chips need energy , so why not give energy to them directly? " .

The product is limited to an output of 8.4 volts. Although considered a relatively low value , can provide power for a wide range of devices for external use . First , the company is working to adapt the solar batteries in sensors used in agriculture , rural activities , tests meteorological and safety-related applications .

Sol Chip hopes to reach the dairy industry . Often monitors are set to cows , to collect information about the animal and ensure the quality of milk . These sensors currently work with batteries that need replacing . According to Sun Chip , solar battery could be a substitute economic and ecological . The company is also working in partnership with Netafim , also from Israel , to replace the batteries used in conventional drip irrigation.
